Jackalope’s Original Location Undergoing Major Facelift

As Jackalope approaches nearly 43 years in business in Santa Fe, the company has broken ground on a major remodel of the 8,400 square-foot store iconic Mission-style building at 2820 Cerrillos Road. The remodel will be completed this spring.

“Jackalope has been an iconic store in Santa Fe for more than four decades,” explained Harpal Singh, Jackalope Owner. “The update was long over due. We are completely remodeling the space to create an inviting and unique shopping experience, where people will want to spend a couple of hours. What Jackalope offers are products not easily found on the Internet, strip malls or large retail box stores; the new store will enhance people’s ability to see and explore our unique lines.”

Jackalope will remain open during construction offering the full lines of unique pottery, furniture and rugs. The total construction project will cost upwards of $500,000 . Every inch of the space is being updated, while the existing façade that people know and love will remain.

“Sales have been increasing steadily year over year, and it is exciting to see the place come alive and regain a strong local and tourist customer base,” Singh added. “I have always loved Santa Fe, and Santa Fe has demonstrated its wonderful support and loyalty to loves Jackalope. The new space will give people an even better shopping experience.”

Another company on the property – Xanudu – is relocating to a new space downtown. Harpal said he is looking at a variety of options for that 5,000 square-foot space. He is confident in securing an exciting new tenant. Plans will be shared once finalized.
